How do I zero my Pulsar Optic?
Zeroing your Pulsar optic may be tricky if you are a first time Pulsar or Thermal Optic user. Below is a step by step guide on how to properly zero your Pulsar optic,
- Mount your Pulsar optic to the firearm. Be sure to follow the recommended torque specs that would be provided in the mount that you are looking to use for your Pulsar optic.
- Determine which range you wish to zero your Pulsar optic to. The most ideal range is typically going to be 100 Yards, however ranges from 50 Yards to 300 yards and even further are achievable. It is all personal preference.
- Setup your target. The best targets will require a big sheet of paper (Easel Pad Paper usually works the best) and either Aluminum foil, duct tape, a hand warmer/hot hand, or a specialized thermal target (such as the Heated Rifle Targets sold on our website). Once your target is ready you are now ready to zero your optic.
- Long Press your unit's primary menu button, and select the Zeroing Profile option. Select your Zeroing Profile (Letters A through E). Once selected, scroll down to the Zeroing option which is a crosshair icon. Select Add New Distance, and determine your zeroing distance.
- Start off by shooting one round at the hot spot on your target that you had set up. Determine where the bullet had impacted on the sheet with a daytime optic such as a pair of binoculars or a spotting scope. From here, many people then make their adjustments, however, it never hurts to verify with multiple rounds. This is where many zeroing issues come into play. Shooting at least two or three times to get an idea of your firearm's grouping will better assist you with making your zeroing adjustments.
- Go back to your Zeroing option by long pressing your unit's menu button. Select the Magnification option which is the magnifying glass icon and select the max magnification. From here, center your optic on the bullseye of your target. Once you are centered, select the Freeze option, which is the snowflake icon. Once your optic has now been frozen to the center of the target you can now zero your optic.
- Select the Windage/Elevation option, and you will be presented with your reticle with a red X in the middle. You will want to adjust the red X to where your bullet(s) impacted on your target. Adjust your X & Y coordinates with your selector knob and short press the menu button to switch between the X & Y axis. Once you are satisfied with your coordinates, long press to save, then long press again.
*If you did not see a box stating "ZEROING COORDINATES SAVED" you will need to repeat this step.*
- Repeat steps 5-7 until you are satisfied with your optic's zero.
